Group proposes to adopt a barangay in Bacolod

Teresa D. Ellera

THE Alliance of Doctors and Concerned Citizens Against Covid-19 (ADCCAC) has proposed to 'adopt a barangay' with the most number of cases in Bacolod City.

In a letter to Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia dated September 25, ADCCAC, led by former Provincial Board member Dr. Melvin Ibanez, offered to apply the concept, measures and strategy that they formulated against this "unpredictable, creeping, deadly without cure and uncontrolled scourge" that caused the loss of lives and livelihood.

Ibanez said the support and assistance they will be extending to the adopted barangay will include direct or indirect supervision of the barangay to implement scientific guidelines and health protocols related to its mandate; set up of Barangay Operations Command Center and its Quick Response Units under the supervision and guidance of the Alliance; assist the barangay in recruiting, organizing and training of volunteers ( allied and non-allied sciences such as under board nurses, radiation technologists, medical technologists, nursing aids, midwives, barangay health workers, teachers and caregivers), and continue the public health education program.

The alliance is also asking the City to give them full logistical support and its mandate by signing a memorandum of agreement supported by a resolution of the Sangguniang Panlungsod.
