GOVERNOR Alfredo Marañon Jr. denied criticizing Bacolod City Representative Greg Gasataya over a P10 million rest house.

Fake news, Marañon said of the report.

According to a social media post by a netizen with the username Sun Tzu, Marañon criticized Gasataya for owning a multi-million vacation home.

The post shows a photo of Marañon with the caption: “Ako three-termer nga congressman kag governor wala makapatindog rest house, pero ikaw ya Greg, one term lang P10 million ang rest house (I was a three-term congressman and governor but I never built a rest house, but you, Greg, in just one term you already have a P10 million rest house).”

“Utterly ridiculous and preposterous,” Marañon said of the post.

“I vehemently deny I ever said what was written in the caption,” he added.

The governor warned: “I will not take this sitting down. If you continue this habit of yours – spreading lies, half-truths, and fake news...”

The governor, in a press statement, suggested that the person behind the Sun Tzu account is a “broadcaster for a Church-based radio station.”

Marañon said the matter should be reported to the Facebook management. (TDE)
