Himamaylan Nat’l High School tops provincial statistics quiz

HIMAMAYLAN National High School (HNHS) won this year’s Provincial Statistics Quiz for Junior High School held at Business Inn in Bacolod City Friday, as part of the 29th National Statistics Month celebration.

The activity was spearheaded by the Provincial Statistics Committee of the Provincial Government of Negros Occidental.

HNHS was represented by Rence Jester Genova, Jezza Mae Detablan and Zaldy Mar Lavada who bested other 23 participating secondary schools from the different cities and municipalities of the province.

They received P7,000 cash and certificates.

Other winners were Negros Occidental High School (NOHS), second place with P6,000 cash; La Castellana National High School, third place with P5,500 cash; Doña Montserrat Lopez Memorial High School, fourth place with P4,500 cash; and Doña Hortencia Salas Benedicto National High School, fifth place with P4,000 cash.

The winning schools will be representing the province in the Statistics Regional Finals in Iloilo City this month.

The annual Stat Quiz aims to promote, enhance, and instill awareness and appreciation of the importance and value of statistics, particularly to the high school students.

The members of the Board of Judges were Dr. Felicidad Altalaguire of the University of San Agustin-Iloilo City, Dr. Jessamine Calma of Colegio San Agustin–Bacolod City, and Febe Quingco of the University of Negros Occidental–Recoletos, Bacolod City. (PR)
