Local groups upbeat for more support for Sara

LOCAL groups backing Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio are hoping to get more support from local officials in the province for whatever future political plans she has.

"We expect more mayors to back Mayor Sara in case she decides to run for higher national position," retired Police Colonel William Señoron, Alliance and Broadcasting Committee co-convener of Padayona Inday Sara, said.

Señoron made the statement after Duterte-Carpio withdrew her candidacy for her reelection bid as Davao City mayor on Tuesday, November 9, fueling speculations that she might be running for president through the rule of succession.

Señoron said their group will support Duterte-Carpio in whatever higher position she will seek.

Some speculate that Duterte-Carpio may run for president in tandem with former Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. as vice president or the other way around.

Señoron said it will not matter which political party Duterte-Carpio will decide to join.

Earlier, some mayors in the province have already declared support for Duterte-Carpio in case she seeks a national post including Silay City Mayor Mark Arthur Golez, La Castellana Mayor Rhumyla Nicor-Mangilimutan and Himamaylan City Mayor Raymund Tongson.

Señoron also said they are planning to conduct a caravan for the presidential daughter in the province to show their support.

They, however, postponed it as they are still waiting for her final decision until November 15, which is the last day of the substitution of candidates for the 2022 elections.
