A LOCALLY stranded individual (LSI) from Cebu was intercepted in Calatrava late Friday night, following four days of paddling his small boat.

Authorities identified the intercepted LSI as Oliver Oberes, 59 years-old, a resident of the said town.

Based on information provided by the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), Oberes originated from the town of Argao in Cebu, and was desperate to go home to reunite with his family.

Oberes used an unmarked motorized banca and left Cebu sometime around Monday.

The LSI then paddled his boat for four days, until he reached the area of Barangay Lemery in Calatrava town where he was intercepted by PCG personnel.

Oberes was immediately brought to the town's quarantine facility in order to undergo a 14-day quarantine. He would also be made to undergo RT-PCR testing.
