MOU forged against hunger, poverty

NEGROS Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding between national government agencies and the local government units of Bago City and the towns of Murcia and Moises Padilla for Enhanced Partnership Against Hunger and Poverty (EPAHP).

The signing was held at L’fisher Hotel in Bacolod City, yesterday, October 13 and was followed by the System Management Committee Meeting for Bago River Irrigation System.

Among the participating national government agencies whose representatives forged their signature to the MOU were from the National Anti-Poverty Commission, National Irrigation Administration, Department of Agrarian Reform, Office of the Executive Secretary, Departments of Agriculture, Trade and Industry and Science and Technology.

Joining the signing of the MOU were representatives of the Landbank of the Philippines, and Technical Education and Skills Development Authority.

It is aimed at helping the farmers by linking their cooperatives and organizations to established markets.

Also present were Mayors Ella Celestina Yulo of Moises Padilla and Victor Gerardo Rojas of Murcia. NIA was represented by Engr. Isaias Melendez, Division Manager A, NIA – Negros Occidental. (PR)
