THE National Police Commission (Napolcom)-Western Visayas has started its investigation on two erring police officers from Negros Occidental.

Napolcom-Western Visayas Director Joseph Celis said the cases of Patrolman Bryn Jephtha Gimotea and Police Corporal Romnick Pacificar have been turned over to the Internal Affairs Service, which will handle the probe.

Gimotea was arrested for smoking marijuana, while Pacificar was arrested after being involved in a shooting incident that killed three people.

Celis said the results are expected to be released within two weeks, and if they find a probable cause, the two will likely face administrative charges.

The region director added that his office is the "supervising agency" of the Philippine National Police, and it is unavoidable that some "bad eggs" managed to get into the police organization.

Last week, Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Eduardo Año issued a stern warning against abusive and erring cops, calling their actions "unacceptable."

Año also warned police officers and other uniformed personnel to provide

proper service to the public, adding, he will chase them down himself if he discovers they are involved in inappropriate or illicit activities.
