NEGROS Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson on Monday, June 14, 2021, issued an executive order prescribing stringent measures to curb the recent surge in confirmed Covid-19 cases in the province.

Lacson in Executive Order No. 21-30, series of 2021 stated there is an alarming surge in the number of Covid-19 cases in the province wherein the number of confirmed cases increased from 15,108 on May 31, 2021, to 16,784 confirmed cases as of June 13, 2021.

On June 9, in a meeting, the medical community of the province recommended the imposition of more stringent measures to curb the recent surge in confirmed Covid-19 cases in the province. The recommendation was likewise concurred upon by all the mayors of the component cities and municipalities of the province.

Among the stringent measures that will be imposed are stricter border controls with Negros Oriental from June 15 to June 30. All non-essential travel or persons originating from Negros Oriental into Negros Occidental shall not be allowed.

Limitation on mass gatherings where only 30 percent of the seating or venue capacity in economic and commercial establishments shall be allowed.

Persons below 18 years old are strongly encouraged to stay at home based on the minimum health standard of the Department of Health.

Closure of all beaches, resorts, and waterparks will be imposed from June 23 to June 25 in line with the Feast of San Juan in order to avoid Covid-19 super spreader activities, the EO further stated.
