Ompong leaves minimal damage to NegOcc

DESPITE the rains it induced over the weekend, Typhoon Ompong left minimal damage to Negros Occidental.

According to a report of the Provincial Disaster Management Program Division (PDMPD), there was a preemptive evacuation in Barangay Aguisan, Himamaylan City, which affected 32 families.

In Bago City, two houses were reportedly damaged in Barangay Caridad and Barangay Abuanan while in Hinoba-an, 64 families evacuated in Barangay Alim and 31 families in Barangay Culipapa.

Melvin Fiero of the PDMPD said the evacuees immediately returned to their respective homes as floods subsided immediately.

Report on possible damages to crops and other agricultural products is expected to come out Monday, September 17.

Also, there was a landslide at Eco Tourism near Kilometer 17 in San Carlos City, but the area has been passable by September 14.

On September 15, big waves capsized a boat in Pulupandan. The three fishermen on board were rescued by authorities. (TDE)
