MORE than 20 persons suffered minor injuries after two passenger utility jeepneys (PUJs) collided in Barangay Granada, Bacolod City, on Saturday, December 8.

Police Officer 3 Mark Villaruz, traffic investigator of Police Station 5, said PUJ driver Romulo Raquel, 53, tried to overtake a multicab but he overlapped to the opposite lane and hit another PUJ driven by Edcent Tagwas, 26.

Raquel probably did not see Tagwas’s vehicle when he executed an overtake, he added.

Both drivers and their passengers sustained injuries on their heads, legs, and other parts of their bodies.

Others felt ill and had difficulty walking due to the impact of the collision.

Nineteen passengers were rushed to a hospital while 16 others were immediately given first aid by rescuers at the area.

Some of them were already discharged from the hospital.
