ABOUT 35 employees of the local government unit San Carlos City went through a five-day coaches’ Training on the Management of the Dead and Missing Persons (MDM) at La Vista Highlands Resort from May 22 to 26, 2023.

The course trained local government unit (LGU) personnel on MDM as the government plays a critical role in handling dead bodies (from retrieval to identification and final disposal), missing persons, and bereaved families.

Mayor Renato Gustilo said it is important that the city employees are equipped with the knowledge and skills, especially in handling different situations during calamity.

He also cited that training is a big factor, particularly this kind of training in upgrading the capacity of the local government when calamity strikes.

The 10-Module program used in the training was eight years in the making following the National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council Memorandum Circular No.19, s. 2016 on the Rules and Regulations Governing the Implementation. This was effectively used during the Marawi Crisis.

Risk Reduction Management Officer Joe Recalex Alingasa Jr. encouraged participants to put to heart what they have learned in the training since it is very useful and gives a deeper meaning to public service. (PR)
