THE Talisay City Police Station has formed on Friday a Special Investigation Task Group (SITG) to conduct an in-depth investigation on the strafing incident against a local radio broadcaster in Negros Occidental last week.

This was confirmed on Sunday, September 23 by Senior Superintendent Rodolfo Castil Jr., director of Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (Nocppo).

The SITG will focus on the identification of the perpetrators and to also determine the motive.

Meanwhile, Superintendent Boots Aseo, city police chief, in a radio interview, said they have no lead yet on the identities of the motorcycle-riding assailants who strafed the house of Rey Siason, one of the anchormen of Muews Radio, on September 19.

Nobody was hurt in the incident but it traumatized Siason's family, including his 16-year-old daughter.

Police recovered from the scene a fired bullet and seven bullet fragments of .45 caliber pistol.

Aseo said they will also check copies of nearby closed-circuit television camera footage to help them in the investigation.

Aseo said the incident might be work-related but he did not elaborate further since the case is still under investigation.

Earlier, Senator Grace Poe also urged the authorities to get to the bottom of the incident.

The Negros Press Club (NPC) and National Union of Journalists of the Philippines (NUJP)-Bacolod chapter earlier condemned the attack against Siason and called on the authorities to also probe the incident. (GYM)
