A SOLDIER was found dead inside his car parked near the Gate 1 of Bredco Port in Bacolod City Tuesday, October 12.

Police Major Ramel Sarona, chief of Police Station 1, said the security guard of the Bredco Port, whose name he did not disclose, informed them that there was a sports utility vehicle (SUV) parked near their gate past 7 a.m.

Sarona said that when they checked the vehicle, they found the man, who was later identified as Sgt. Rodolfo Alimen, 46, of Barangay Estefania.

He said they identified the soldier based on the identification cards recovered from his vehicle.

Initial investigation showed that Alimen had no visible wounds.

Aside from several identification cards, the police also recovered his issued firearms and money.

They are yet to establish Alimen's unit and if he was still active.

Alimen's wife, whose name was also not disclosed, said he was suffering from hypertension and took medicines daily.

She said that around 5 a.m. Tuesday, the victim drove his co-worker to the port before he was found dead.

The police believe that Alimen died of natural causes.

Sarona said the family agreed for an autopsy to determine his cause of death.

The police are still conducting further investigation to determine if there was foul play in the incident.
