A TEENAGER died while his companion was hurt when their motorcycle crashed into a parked truck along the national highway of Barangay Patun-an in Calatrava town, Negros Occidental past 1 a.m. Monday, November 21.

Town police chief, Major Lidawan Lumayen, identified the fatality as Christian Arellano, 18, of Sitio Lower Lalong in the town’s Barangay Lalong.

Arellano succumbed to multiple injuries upon arrival at the Calatrava Municipal Hospital where his companion Larry Delima, 20, of Sitio Butig-buting in the town’s Barangay Manchaca is currently confined.

Lumayen said the victims were on a motorcycle driven by Arellano on their way to the town proper when they crashed into the self-loader truck parked beside the road.

He said the truck, owned by Maxipro Development Corporation based at Santa Mesa Heights Lourdes in Quezon City, encountered mechanical trouble.

“There were warning devices but the victims could have been under the influence of liquor aside from the fact that the area where the accident happened was not well-lighted,” Lidawan explained.*
