Top PNP official honors Negros Occidental cops, stakeholders

SEVERAL policemen, police stations and stakeholders in Bacolod City and Negros Occidental were lauded by Philippine National Police (PNP) chief General Guillermo Lorenzo Eleazar during his visit to the city and province Saturday, October 9, 2021.

At the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO), Police Station 1 chief, Major Ramel Sarona, received their award as best unit in the implementation of "Birada Semana," while Captain Paul Vincent Pendon, who is the chief of Police Station 2, received their recognition as special unit with the most number of positive operations on illegal drugs.

Individual awardees were Captain John Christopher Masangkay, chief of Police Station 5, for Medalya ng Kagalingan and Major Richard Fajarito, chief of Police Station 3, who received Medalya ng Papuri.

For non-commissioned officers, Staff Sergeants Leo Dela Cruz and Rennel Sustento, both of Police Station 5, received Medlaya ng Kagalingan and Medalya ng Papuri, respectively.

Retired BCPO bomb expert Denny Montoya was also recognized by the PNP chief for his 31 years of outstanding service.

Eleazar also honored various advocacy support group leaders in Bacolod City, as well as the donors and sponsors of BCPO’s programs and development.

Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia also assured Eleazar of their continued support and pledged to donate 12 additional service vehicles for the BCPO.

Meanwhile, Bago City Police Station chief Lieutenant Colonel Joem Malong received their award as the Best Unit in City Police Operation for having the most number of arrested wanted persons, most number of operations on illegal gambling, and most number of accomplished loss firearms.

Silay City Police Station chief Lieutenant Colonel Robert Petate received their award as Component City Police Station with most number of positive operations on illegal drugs while Lieutenant Colonel Jonel Guadalupe received the award of the La Carlota City Police Station as the Best Unit in implementing of "Oplan Manyag."

For the Municipal Police Station Level, Pulupandan Municipal Police Station was named Best Unit in implementing the "Birada Semana."

Businessman and philanthropist Jerry Sy, founder, president and chief executive officer of Silver Dragon Construction, Lumber, and Glass Supply Inc., received a plaque of appreciation for his contribution to the realization of the construction of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (Nocppo) Kapanalig Oval and Recognition Wall.

The chief PNP also recognized the efforts of Cadiz City Police Station in the swift arrest of a suspect behind the brutal murder of a public school teacher last week.

Eleazar was accompanied by Police Regional Office-Western Visayas Director-General Rolando Miranda, Directorate for Integrated Police Operations-Visayas Lieutenant General Bernabe Balba, Directorate for Police Community Operations Major General Bartolome Bustamante, Senior Executive Assistant to PNP chief Colonel Gregory Bogñabal and Public Information Office Colonel Roderick Augustus Alba.

Also present during the awarding ceremonies were Nocppo Director Colonel Romy Palgue and BCPO Acting Director Colonel Thomas Joseph Martir.
