Truck kills boy, 5, in road accident

A FIVE-YEAR-OLD boy died after he was ran over by a wingvan truck in Barangay Canturay, Sipalay City, Negros Occidental Thursday morning, March 28.

Police identified the fatality as Jason Kier Aglobat of the said village.

Police Major John Joel Batusbatusan, city police chief, said the victim was allegedly hit by a wingvan truck when he crossed the road to fetch his mother who was on the opposite side of the road.

They were supposed to go to the water well, a few meters away from their house.

The van, which was traveling to Bacolod City, was driven by Joemarie Dumaga-is, 44, of Barangay Mandalagan, Bacolod City.

The victim was rushed to a hospital while the driver surrendered to the police station.

Batusbatusan said the driver was released Friday after the lapse of the reglementary period.

There was a settlement between the two groups, he added. (GYM)
