Victim in Bacolod shooting identified

Merlinda A. Pedrosa

THE Bacolod City Police Station 2 already identified the victim who was shot to death on Palanca Street, Reclamation Area, Barangay 2, in the city on Friday, August 6, 2021. Police Captain Paul Vincent Pendon, officer-in-charge of Police Station 2, said the victim was identified by his mother as Ralph Suspene, 24, of Antonio Luna, Barangay Mambulac, Silay City, on Friday afternoon. On Friday, the body of the victim was found by Joseph Mendoza, 57, an e-bike driver and resident of Barangay 10, with four gunshot wounds on his lower abdomen and upper back portion of his body on Palanca Street, Reclamation Area. Pendon said the victim was a former drug surrenderer. In May 2018, he was also arrested for violation of illegal drugs and was released on August 7, 2020. He said there is a possibility that the victim was killed in the area because some of the residents near the area also heard gunfire Friday morning. Police recovered from the scene of the crime two empty cartridges and one live ammunition of .45 caliber revolver. Pendon said the mother of the victim also asked for assistance for the conduct of the autopsy on the victim’s body. The police have yet to establish the motive in the killing of the victim, and they are still conducting further investigation to identify the suspects.
