A FIRE that hit a residential area in Guadalupe Viejo in Makati City Tuesday was already placed under control around 2 p.m. Tuesday.

Makati City Fire Marshal Superintendent Ricardo Perdigon, in a television interview, said after two hours of fighting the blaze, the fire is now under control.

The fire razed the Laperal Compound Tuesday morning and reached the general alarm, which means all available firefighters in the city and in neighboring areas should respond to the emergency.

The report added houses in the area were razed by the fire as they were made of light materials.

Metropolitan Manila Development Authority Chairman Francis Tolentino said the residents will be moved to a gymnasium, however, no specific details are given yet.

On the other hand, Makati City Mayor Jejomar Binay Jr. said tents are now being set up to shelter some affected individuals.

The mayor also said no fatalities were reported yet.

Investigation is ongoing as to the cause of fire. (Sunnex)
