Palace still won’t declare holiday on Nov. 2

MANILA -- Malacanang reiterated Thursday that November 2, All Souls’ Day, will not be a holiday.

Deputy Presidential spokesperson Abigail Valte said they share the sensitivity of the Filipinos to pay respect to their loved ones on All Souls Day but they believed three days would be enough to do it.

“We have Saturday, Sunday, and Monday for that. It’s a weekend, so hopefully they can take advantage of the three days to observe All Saints’ Day,” she said in a press briefing.

Valte added they have not received words from President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino on declaring November 2 a holiday, therefore it stays as it is.

“We are also very sensitive to the needs of the people when it comes to the observance of All Soul’s Day, when it comes to the opportunity to pay their respects to their loved ones and to say their prayers.” (Jill Beltran/Sunnex)
