Quezon City automates building permit applications

MANILA -- Businessmen in Quezon City will soon be relieved from cumbersome processes as the country’s premiere city started to automate applications related to building, occupancy, demolition, and fencing.

Explaining the features of the automation program, Isagani Versoza Jr., the city’s chief engineer, said all applications with the Department of Building Officials (DBO) can be tracked on a real-time status.

“This is because it is now electronically encoded to form part of city-wide database for all buildings. Data records will also be transferred to a master data bank where the City Assessor’s office could also access for their reference,” he said.

He added the linkage with the Assessor’s Office will help in fast issuance of needed tax declarations and other data records of a building.

One of the best features of the program is its SMS capability, where applicants for permits may simply send text message to check status of their applications. (Virgil Lopez/Sunnex)
