Bacolod jins advance to national finals

NINE taekwondo jins from Bacolod City are advancing to the Batang Pinoy 2019 national finals after bagging the gold in their respective categories during the Batang Pinoy Visayas leg on February 25 to 27 at Robinsons Pavia in Iloilo City.

Bacolod’s representatives garnered eight gold medals, two silver plums and two bronzes.

Miguel Zapata, Allen Casana, Marielle Beronio and Leigh Andee Rodriguez topped their respective weight classes in the sparring competition, while Arianne Espida and Joshua Caudra brought home bronze medals.

In the poomsae competition, Maria Charlize Subardiaga and Lexine Lapu-os won gold in the team category while Arthur Diaz and Lexine Lapu-os settled for silver in the mixed pair category.

Suburdiaga and Diaz also brought home bronze medals in the individual category of the poomsae competition.

The national finals of Batang Pinoy 2019 edition is tentatively scheduled in October at either Tagbilaran, Bohol or Ormoc, Leyte. (PR)
