GAB extends license registration deadline to August 15

THE Games and Amusement Board (GAB) has extended the registration renewal of expired licenses on August 15, 2020, due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

In a GAB memorandum on July 7 signed by Chairman Abraham "Baham" Mitra and Commissioners Ed Trinidad at Mar Masanguid, renewal applications will be accepted without any penalty.

“We have taken the penalty because we do understand what everyone has gone through, especially the fighters who are on ‘no fight, no pay’,” Mitra stressed.

Mitra encouraged all pro-athletes and those licensed individuals who organize and run professional sports to renew their licenses at the GAB office in Makati City.

However, there are health protocols that the agency observes, said Mitra.

“GAB office opens only on Tuesdays and Thursdays due to the imposed alternative work arrangement,” he added.

Mitra also reminded everyone of the strict implementation of wearing a face mask, temperature scanning, physical distancing, using the foot bath and hand sanitizing as well as submission of Health Declaration form.

While boxing has already earned approval in areas under modified enhanced community quarantine, other sports need to wait for a while as GAB helps defend the requests of other sports leagues and organizations to the Inter-Agency Task Force, Mitra lamented.
