Regions 3, 4 archers rule nat’l SCUAA in Antique

ARCHERS from Regions 3 (Central Luzon) and 4 (Southern Tagalog) dominated the 30-meter men and women’s archery event in the ongoing State Colleges and Universities Athletic Association (SCUAA) national championships at the Camp Fullon archery range in San Jose, Antique.

In the men’s division, Region 3 ruled as Darelle de la Cruz won the gold medal after scoring 161 while his teammates Rommel Onarse and Angelo Carl de Castro settled for silver and bronze medals with 160 points each.

Ma. Josephine Maloloy-on of Region 4 bagged the gold medal after scoring 160 while her teammate Keth Arguelles finished bronze medal with 157 points. Region 3 archer Kate Calderon settled for silver with 159.

In softball, still at Camp Fullon, the National Capital Region (NCR), Southern Tagalog and Western Visayas defeated their respective opponents in Day 1 of the competition.

Ilocos Region suffered back-to-back defeats in the hands of NCR (11-1) and Southern Tagalog, 11-3.

Region 6 survived Cordillera Autonomous Region, 2-1 but, bounced back with a huge 8-2 triumph over Eastern Visayas.

In baseball, Central Luzon blanked Region 12, 12-0 while Southern Tagalog escaped Central Visayas, 4-3 as NCR downed Cagayan Valley Region, 4-1. (HGD)
