San Enrique taekwondo club members reap medals at the Baguio Open tourney

SEVEN members of the San Enrqiue Taekwondo Club reaped medals during the first Baguio Open Taekwondo Championship held on May 21, 2022, at Bacolod City Convention Center.

San Enrique Councilor Kirk Steven Debulgado, who is also the founder the town’s taekwondo club, said Friday, June 3, 2022, that the tournament whose participants came from different provinces and cities in the Philippines was spearheaded by the Baguio City government.

Blezy Ashirah Jucal won gold medal for the reaction kicking category and silver in poomsae or the pattern of defense-and-attack motions exhibition while Kurt Gaylo and Cid Martin John Casuyon won silver medals on both categories.

Winning gold for poomsae category was Johaida Parpan, who also got bronze in the reaction kicking category while Rhein Denielle Aristosa won silver in poomsae and bronze in reaction kicking.

Meanwhile, Khabby Dumalaug and Shanie Portugalete both receive bronze medals for the two categories.

They were the only contestants from the Visayas in the tournament which was dominated by participants from Luzon. They were coached by Robert Tambanillo.
