BARANGAY Sum-ag Youth Council chairman Jason Villarosa spearheaded the first Jason Villarosa Caddy Golf Tournament at Marapara Golf and Country Club in Barangay Bata, Bacolod City Monday, December 10.

He organized the tournament because the sports is close to his heart.

He said he started playing golf when he was seven years old.

“This is one way of giving tribute to our caddies because I want them to be happy also. My biggest tournament that I participated in and won was the Philippine Airlines Golf Tournament held just this year (2018). Many golfers from other parts of the country came and competed for the said tournament. Luckily, their team, Marapara, was named as the champion in one of the divisions...I also won in several golf tournaments, thus, I also organized a tournament for the caddies whom I considered as the unsung heroes in the game of golf,” he said.

He said these caddies taught him how to play golf since he started and still guides him to become a better golfer.

It is a fact that only a few recognized this sport and he wants to elevate this sport to the community.

He added that there were 101 caddies in the Marapara Golf and Country Club.
