Vito NHS escapes Caduha-an NHS, 107-106 in NBTC Silay-Sagay leg opener

JOHN Paul Pegarido sizzled for 28 points to anchor Vito National High School to a slim 107-106 victory over Caduha-an National High School in the opener of the National Basketball Training Center (NBTC) Silay-Sagay leg played over the weekend at the Sagay City gym.

VNHS opened the first quarter with a 28-21 lead with John Carlo Arado scoring 10 points as both teams posted 28 points apiece in the second quarter. Vito led the half, 56-49.

In the second half, CNHS poured 57 points but was not enough to reverse the result.

Backstopping Pegarido are Elrey Sanchez and Arado with 16 and 14 points each while Kevin Carl Erasmo led CNHS with 22 points s Adrian Cardinal and Leonardo dela Cruz III added 18 points each, and Albert Villarias Jr. with 18 points.

CNHS, however, bounced back from the initial loss with a close 109-102 win against Eusebio Lopez Memorial Integrated School.

Cardinal and dela Cruz led Caduha-an with 23 and 20 points, respectively, as Reyland Tiangson fired 26 points for ELMIS.

Meanwhile, Dr. Vicente Gustillo Memorial National High School dominated CEDAR College, 105-83 behind Johnrie Naingue's 23 points as April Boy Pedrano delivered 18 points for CEDAR in losing effort.
