POLICE Director General Oscar David Albayalde assured continuous monitoring of all areas in the country to maintain law and order during the filing of certificates of candidacy.

“Binantayan ng mga kapulisan lahat ng registration areas ng buong Pilipinas,” stated Albayalde in his recent visit to Camp Bado Dangwa in La Trinidad during the 117th Police Service Anniversary celebration.

“We have reshuffled stations, provincial and city directors in the Philippines. There will be more reshuffling conducted as the days go by to ensure na walang kikilingan itong ating mga kapulisan lalong lalo na iyong mga may kamag-anak doon sa kanilang mga jurisdiction,” he added.

(The reshuffling aims to ensure that policemen remain non-partisan.

On Friday, October 12, Albayalde disclosed there are election hot spots being validated.

Meaanwhile, he clarified that the recent killings of government officials remain politically motivated.

“Iyong iba nakita natin may politically motivated, iyong iba may problema sa contrata, wala pong pattern ito. Iba–iba iyong nakitang rason. Nagkaroon ng pangyayari, murder cases na ito. In some other areas mas marami ang nakikita na politically motivated. Iyan ang tinitignan natin bakit sasapit ang eleksyon may namamatay na kandidato, incumbent o kakandidato,” he said.

(Some killings were politically motivated. Some had something to do with the contract. There is no pattern to this. There were different motives. We are looking into why some candidates are killed every time there is an election.)

For the mid-term election, Albayalde conveyed their early preparation for the filing of CoCs and the forthcoming elections as they have activated the Special Operations Task Group.

“Dahil nakita natin mayroong incidente hindi lang patayan medyo mainit na election o iyong heated rivalry binabantayan din natin. Itong itinalaga na mga director, sila ang mag oversee na mga police operations related to election preparations,” Albayalde added.

Police Regional Office-Cordillera (PRO-CPR) Chief Superintendent Rolando Nana stated the region is under validation. At the end of the period for filing of certificates of candidacy, an assessment will be made to determine the status of Abra.

COC filing has been set for October 11 to 17, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., except Saturdays and Sundays.

In the city of Baguio, the first day of filing of CoCs saw early registrants Nicasio Aliping Jr., who is running for a cngressional seat; Jose Molintas for city mayor with the NP-PDP Laban Coalition; and Nacionalista Party Representative Marquez Go, who is gunning for his second term as Lone District Representative of Baguio.
