A CREATIVE festival will define November.

Ibagiw: The Baguio Creative Festival 2019 will be a showcase of Baguio City’s vibrant and richly diverse artistic and cultural skyline.

Set on November 16 to 24, different events will be set at the Diplomat Hotel, now known as the Heritage Hill and Nature Park.

Led by the Baguio Arts and Creative Council (BACCI) in coordination with the City of Baguio backed by the Philippine Tourism Board, festival creative director Karlo Altomonte said a budget of close to P5 million was set.

Presented by the city and in line with the Unesco designation as a creative city, the festival aims to inspire and encourage innovations in crafts and folk art

The festival’s main event, “Made in Baguio,” will be a competition in wood carving, textile weaving, basketry and metal craft.

Altomonte said several events will fill the nine day festival with initial programs like “Jamming on a G-string,” a fashion show featuring designers in collaboration with musicians for concert.

Other events include “Uring manlilikha,” a photography exhibit featuring portraits of the city’s foremost artists and artisans, “Barrelman 2.0,” an installation exhibition and the Baguio Creative City Marketplace, a fair that will showcase the city’s creative eco system, including a selection of the city’s crafts and folk art pieces from textile, woodcarvings, basketry and silver craft with modern creations.

With a theme “Made in Baguio,” the festival will also feature ‘Post no Bill,’ an exhibit by graffiti artists and muralists set at Session road which will be transformed into an outdoor gallery; Natural sound, an acoustic classical and indigenous music concert to be performed at the forest trail while buskers and other performance artists will also be given open spaces for their presentations.

Baguio City is part of 64 cities from 44 countries have been designated as Unesco Creative Cities by with the objective of fostering innovations and creativity as key drivers for a more sustainable and inclusive urban development with the November festival as the highlight for this year.

The city was chosen for its exposure to the silver crafts industry, weaving, wood carving and cultural performance and literature unique only in Baguio City and the Cordillera Region.
