AN ESTIMATED P12.3 million was collected by the Baguio City Police Office (BCPO)-Traffic Enforcement Unit (TEU) in the implementation of the anti-road obstruction ordinance in the city from January to November in 2018.

TEU head Senior Inspector Oliver Panabang said during the 11 month-period, their office recorded 41,000 traffic apprehensions with 5,400 apprehensions coming from deputized officials.

This resulted in the Baguio City Treasurers Office collecting around P870,000 from the violators particularly in the barangay areas.

In the first four months of this year, BCPO recorded 15,413 violators apprehended of various city traffic ordinances.

Leading violations committed in the city include traffic related incidents.

BCPO acting City Director Senior Superintendent Eliseo Tanding said despite the influx of tourists during long weekends and even the coming lengthen season, BCPO have always been ready with peace and security measures.

“What we want to impart to the motorists, pedestrians and all of us here in Baguio is to practice discipline, especially when we go to the streets it is still discipline,” Tanding expressed.
