Cordillera Day celebration set

ANOTHER decentralized celebration for Cordillera Day 2019 has been staged by groups all over the region.

The 35th Cordillera Day has been celebrated in the different provinces of the region, with programs set April 24 and 27 with a theme "Resist tyranny! Advance the Politics of Change and Self-Determination." The celebration is spearheaded by different cause-oriented groups.

In Baguio City, celebrations highlighted three events in the afternoon of April 24 at Malcolm Square.

A short program to discuss local and regional issues, the Makabayan Baguio Miting de Avance, and a Concert for Neri and the Politics of Change were scheduled.

The celebrations will drumbeat local and regional issues and will call to advance the politics of change amid the midterm elections, organizers said.

Speakers are Jeannette Cawiding, Tongtongan ti Umili, ACT Cordillera; Jill Cariño, vice chairperson of CPA; Geraldine Cacho, chairperson of Tongtongan ti Umili; and Joanna K. Cariño, of CPA and Makabayan National vice chairperson.
