Cordillera gets P700.44-M agriculture projects

A TOTAL of P700.44 million worth of agriculture projects were turned over to the six provinces in the Cordillera Administrative Region.

On Friday, September 20, various projects for 2019 were awarded by Agriculture Secretary William Dar to the different provincial government units represented by local officials and farmer cooperatives at Benguet Agri Pinoy Trading Center in La Trinidad, Benguet.

Kalinga province received P228.73 million, followed by Mt. Province with P135.35 million, Ifugao with P122.28 million, Apayao with P110.855 million, P54.22 million for Benguet, and P48.98 million for Abra.

Under the regional budget of Department of Agriculture (DA)-Cordillera, most of the projects are for pump irrigation system, greenhouses, and spring development project.

Also awarded were farm machineries and equipment such as four wheel tractor, postharvest facilities like customized rice mill, combined harvester and tractor coming from the various DA programs such as rice, corn high value crops and organic agriculture program.

DA-Cordillera last week added others were given with some machineries while some farmers need to undergo training on operation and maintenance before the transfer of the machine.
