CORDILLERA police enhanced their crackdown against overloading vehicles.

Several individuals were apprehended in the region following a directive earlier issued by Police Regional Office (PRO)-Cordillera Director Brigadier General Israel Ephraim Dickson for all provincial, municipalities and city police stations to enforce laws on transportation and traffic rules with emphasis on overloading and hitching rides to help ensure the safety of the riding public, three apprehensions were conducted in the region.

In the evening of January 19, personnel of Lamut Municipal Police Station (LMPS) conducted a checkpoint and implemented traffic laws and ordinances particularly on speeding, overloading violations and illegal use of siren and blinkers which resulted to the apprehension of Robert Lupai and Sonny Saguilot for overloading.

A certain Roger Solomon of Santa Fe was also arrested for not wearing a helmet.

In Baguio City, operatives of the Baguio City Police (BCPO) Station 10 who were conducting a checkpoint apprehended Marlon Dingcog Abalos, 29, truck driver and residing in Macalong Kasibu Nueva Vizcaya for overloading.

In another operation in the city, personnel of the City Mobile Force Company led by Police Lieutenant Ronaldo Trinidad apprehended in a checkpoint operation the violators for overloading identified as Enrique Aromin Jr., George Ogoc, Carlos Habiling and Bryan Pagnas, who were all taxi drivers.

All apprehended persons were issued traffic citation tickets.

The intensified campaign on overloading was issued to check all vehicles at checkpoints that are transporting goods and people for these transport vehicles not to go beyond their weight capacity.

The directive was instructed by newly installed chief of the Philippines National Police Lieutenant General Archie Francisco Gamboa last year to all the regional directors to intensify their operations against

overloaded motor vehicles to avert accidents and other transport-related incidents.
