Minor retrieves stolen phone through GPS

PERSONNEL of the Baguio City Police Office Station 7 arrested a male suspect who stole the cellphone of a minor at the city’s night market.

Based on a blotter report, the suspect was identified as John Rey Datol Kapatas, 37, married, a construction worker and resident of Irisan, Baguio City.

The victim is a student and a resident of Rodriguez, Rizal.

According to police, the victim realized his phone was lost while looking at various shoes for sale.

Due to the volume of people at the night market, the victim failed to identify the suspect which prompted him to ask for help from his father.

The victim tried to track down his cell phone through the use of global positioning system aside from asking the help of police.

Police immediately traced the whereabouts of the phone and successfully arrested the suspect and is now facing a case of theft.
