Public warned vs fake bills

THE Baguio City Police Office (BCPO) warned the public about the presence of fake P1,000 bill circulating in the city.

The warning came after a sales lady was victimized by scrupulous individuals using fake money to pay their bills.

BCPO Station 7 Commander Chief Inspector Manuel Ibasco said the modus happened at one of the stalls of the Session Road in Bloom when a sales lady received a P1,000 bill as payment, which she failed to check for authenticity.

"We have alerted the officials of Session Road in Bloom for them to advise stall operators to double check these P1,000 bills being used for payment by some scrupulous individuals or groups who pretend to buy their products and alert the nearest law enforcer within the vicinity for them to be apprehended," Ibasco said.

Ibasco said fake bills can be determined by looking at the features and assess its clarity by checking the kind of print paper used since Banko Sentral ng Pilipinas uses high quality paper in printing legal tender bills.

"Based on our initial investigation, the five suspects immediately fled after the sales lady sensed the P1,000 bill was fake,” Ibasco said.

No other victim or victims were reported.

Ibasco said the police are continuously conducting "Operation Tambuli," which seeks to inform the public of various modus operandi.
