Search for women water advocates on

THE Environmental Management Bureau of DENR has launched its first search for women advocating water in the region.

EMB information officer Mary Claire Luminang said the search is the first in the region with awarding ceremonies set in June.

Luminag said the Women in Water (WIW) award recognizes and honors women in exceptional leadership in the field of water protection and management.

The search is divided into two categories, individual and women’s groups which aims to revere and honor those women working remarkably who proved women leadership have the momentous impact and influence on the development of the Cordilleran community.

Submission of nominations started May 6 and ends on June 3, 2019. Awarding will be on June 5.

Nominator must be working in government agency, local government unit, academe, non-government organization. Self-nomination is not accepted and incomplete or inaccurate nomination form may be disqualified.

Criteria is set for all women leaders in communities in women areas, adopted esteros/water bodies in the region. The nominee must have demonstrated leadership with a positive impact in the protection of the WQMAS and must be involved in the program, for a minimum of three years.
