DESPITE the uncertainty of the Cordillera Administrative Region Athletic Association (Caraa) schedule, Baguio athletes will continue to gear up for the upcoming regional sports meet.

Following its postponement due to the 2019 corona novelvirus acute respiratory disease (2019-nCoV ARD), city and Department of Education (DepEd) Baguio officials have yet to schedule the annual sports meet.

According to a city official, athletes are advised to continue their training in a bid to retain the overall title against six other provinces and one component city.

Close to 6,000 delegates from Abra, Apayao, Benguet, Ifugao, Kalinga, Mountain Province, and Tabuk City in the weeklong tournament which was originaly scheduled February 16 to 21.

Caraa was postponed by Mayor Benjamin Magalong as well as canceling the opening of the flower festival as a health safety precaution due to 2019-nCoV ARD.

“We are postponing the sports meet to a later date for health security reasons due to the prevailing international health issue,” Magalong said in an earlier press conference.

As of Tuesday, DepEd Baguio and city officials are meeting to iron out schedule for the regional meet.
