A TOTAL of 170 police stations and police community precincts in the region received Philippine flags as part of Ayala Foundation’s Maging Magiting Campaign on Thursday, August 8, at the Police Regional Office (PRO)-Northern Mindanao Camp 1st Lt. Vicente G. Alagar, Baragay Lapasan, Cagayan de Oro City.

The Maging Magiting Campaign is Ayala Foundation’s advocacy program to rekindle nationalism and pride in being Filipinos through highlighting the Filipino spirit.

One of its main programs is the flag campaign aiming to distribute at least 10,000 Philippine flags to public schools, police stations, among others in all regions in the country within this year.

The program, according to Ayala Foundation, is to ensure that the national symbol is present in places of service, honor and justice.

“Right now is a very good time to renew our commitment to nation-building through a program that remind us of the greatness of our country and our people,” said Ayala Foundation president Ruel Maranan.

The PRO-Northern Mindanao is the first stop in the Philippine National Police (PNP) leg of Ayala Foundation’s Maging Magiting Campaign following the memorandum of agreement signed last July 8 between PNP Police General Oscar Albayalde and Maranan.

The memorandum of agreement allows the Ayala Foundation to distribute 3,000 Philippine flags to major precincts and stations nationwide.

Maranan hoped that through the Maging Magiting Campaign, the Filipino’s perspective will change and bring the country towards betterment in small, significant ways.

“We are all under one flag, unit as one Filipino country, one Filipino people who desire a better future for our children and better lives for all. Lagi nating tandaan na araw-araw, may pagkakataon tayong Maging Magiting,” he said.

The Maging Magiting Campaign is a response to the National Historical Commission of the Philippines’ (NHCP’s) claim that there is a gap of 100,000 flags across the country.

At present, Ayala Foundation, in partnership with Chooks-to-Go, Department of Education and NHCP, has distributed around 7,000 flags to public elementary schools in eight regions, namely: National Capital Region, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Western Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, Davao Region, and Caraga Region.
