Barangays Pagatpat, 22 hailed as champions in 'Indigay sa Parol'

BARANGAYS Pagatpat and 22 were named as this year's champion for the Sub-Urban and Urban categories of the Christmas lantern competition, "Indigay sa Parol," which was one of the activities the City Government of Cagayan de Oro conducted during the yuletide season.

Each received a total of P150,000 cash prize. Following Barangay Pagatpat in the Sub-Urban category are Barangays Carmen (second place) and Puntod (third place), receiving P100,000 and P75,000, respectively.

In the Urban category, the second place was bagged by Barangay 26 and third place went to Barangay 38. Each of them also received cash prizes worth P100,000 and P75,000, respectively.

Apart from the barangays, national government agencies and business establishments were also given awards and cash prizes, namely: Department of Education (champion: P50,000), Philippine Port Authority (second place: P30,000), and Commission on Audit (third place: P20,000) in the National Government Agency category; and Expressions (champion: P50,000), Cepalco (second place: P30,000), and Chowking (third place: P20,000) in the Business Establishments category.

The entries for the Indigay sa Parol 2019 were judged based on a set of criteria: creativity (40 percent), durability (20 percent), relevance to the theme (20 percent), and design and lights (20 percent).

The winners were awarded on Monday morning, January 6.
