THE Department of Health (DOH) in Northern Mindanao has recorded a new Covid-19 positive case in the region, bringing the total to six, with one death.

The new case is a 33-year-old female from Mahinog, Camiguin, the DOH-Northern Mindanao announced in a press statement Sunday, April 5.

She has a history of travel to Manila last March 8 and arrived in Camiguin on March 14. She was placed under a mandatory 14-day home quarantine.

But on March 17, the patient, with a pre-existing case of asthma, experienced mild symptoms of colds and sore throat.

The patient is under strict home quarantine and is being closely monitored by the Provincial Health Office and Rural Health Unit personnel.

The DOH-Northern Mindanao now urges all persons who traveled to areas affected by Covid-19 to monitor themselves for a possible development of fever, cough, and shortness of breath.

"If you have any of these symptoms, please see the nearest health facilities. In addition, please follow the mandatory home quarantine guidelines, such as, but not limited to: stay in a separate room from family members and use separate eating and drinking utensils," the DOH said.
