THE 19-year-old granddaughter of patient 6783, the 69-year-old man from Sitio Pinikitan, Barangay Camaman-an who died from Covid-19 last month, is the eighth confirmed coronavirus case in Cagayan de Oro.

The city now has a total of eight cases, with four deaths, one recovery, and three outpatients.

All of the outpatients are family members of patient 6783 -- his wife, child, and grandchild.

City epidemiologist Dr. Joey Retuya said all of them are asymptomatic and have been staying at the City Isolation Unit (CIU) since patient 6783 was found positive for the virus.

"Ang 3 naa sa CIU ug wala nagpakita ug unusual signs and symptoms," Retuya said.

Retuya said 17 family members of patient 6783 who are all at the CIU will finish their 14-day quarantine period on Thursday, May 14.

On the same day, Retuya said the Department of Health will conduct repeat swabbing of the 3 positive patients.

Meanwhile, the City Health Office said 109 close contacts of the Covid patients from Barangay Carmen, Lumbia, and Camaman-an are closely monitored for possible flu-like symptoms.
