DOH to replace 30 vials of vaccine damaged in Misamis Oriental fire

THE Department of Health (DOH)-Northern Mindanao will be replacing the 30 vials of Covid-19 vaccines that were damaged by the fire that hit the Provincial Health Office Wednesday night, April 14.

DOH Regional Director Dr. Jose Llacuna, during a virtual press conference on Friday, April 16, said he gave the assurance to Provincial Health Office head Dr. Jerie Calingasan that they will immediately replace the damaged 30 vials of Sinovac vaccines.

"This is a situation beyond our control. Ma'y na lang we will replace immediately from our stock in the region the ones damaged in Misamis Oriental," Llacuna said.

"Per our evaluation gahapon, 30 vials or 30 doses [ang na damage]" he added.

Meanwhile, the Provincial Government of Misamis Oriental is planning to form a task force to investigate the cause of fire that severely damaged the Provincial Health Office and part of the Provincial Engineering Office.

Fire investigators have pegged the initial structural damage at P1.4 million.

Governor Yevgeny Emano has also mentioned that the construction plan of a three-story building, which will be the new Provincial Health Office, will begin in June this year.

As of Friday, the Provincial Health Office will continue its operation at the province's training center.

The Provincial Agriculture Office was also made to be the temporary vaccination center of the province.
