THE Provincial Social Welfare and Development (PSWD) office of Misamis Oriental is prioritizing elderly persons and those who have disabilities in the distribution of food assistance as the government enforces home quarantine due to the coronavirus disease (Covid-19).

PSWD officer Jhunleymar Abella said they will prioritize senior citizens and persons with disabilities who are vulnerable to the disease and those daily wage earners who were hardly hit by the health crisis.

Among them are the informal settlers, house help, workers of small eatery businesses, laborers, carpenters, fisherfolks and farmers, Abella said.

Governor Yevgeny Emano placed the entire province under general community quarantine until April 14 as he continuously calls on all residents to stay at home.

The PSWD is now coordinating with the social welfare office of the different towns and cities in identifying families qualified for the assistance.
