MISAMIS Oriental Governor Yevgeny "Bambi" Emano was among the five personalities in the Philippines who received the wind vane award in Quezon City, over the weekend, for his exemplary contribution to the state weather bureau.

Emano said it was his first time to be conferred with the highest award given by the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) for his contribution to the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

The other awardees were a president of a Taiwanese university, a personnel from the interior department, Philippine Air Force and a television weather reporter.

“Kita lang ang natagaan sa Visayas ug Mindanao and it’s my first to receive the highest award from DOST and Pagasa,” Emano said.

Emano has become the instrument for the construction of the Pagasa planetarium beside the weather station in El Salvador City, Misamis Oriental.

The P50 million planetarium is set to be completed in eight months after its ground breaking last March 15. The facility is also expected to draw tourists and it will become a hub for educational trips for students all over Mindanao and Visayas which will eventually create economic activity.

The planetarium is a theatre built primarily for presenting educational and entertaining shows about astronomy and the night sky, or for training in celestial navigation.

Emano offered this another award to all Misamisnons as he thanked the DOST for trusting his leadership.

“Ang atong nahimo for the DOST is kaning pagtukod sa planetarium nga walang maigo ang edukasyon nga poste sa atong kiosko kundili apil usab ang turismo kung aha atong mga hotels, transport sector ug uban pa will earn,” Emano said.

“Unya dili ni maundang kay ipabutang man sa curiculum nga tanan grade 5 kinahanglan mobisita sa planetarium,” he added.
