DESPITE of frequent surprise checkups, all of the three inns and a hotel inspected by the Regulatory and Complaint Board (RCB) on Wednesday, February 13, still scored violations.

Beatrice Inn, King Lawrence Inn, Loft Inn, and even VIP Hotel do not have a separate log book for minors checking in at the establishment, a policy stipulated in the Children's Welfare Code.

“We checked the compliance sa regulation sa ordinansa labina kining minors nga dili pwede unaccompanied nga mo check in. Kung dili sila relatives, dili pwede mag check in, pero if they are with their parents, the minors still have to write their names in the log book,” Lawyer Edgardo Uy said, RCB chairman.

“This is to send a message that the government is watching the businessmen to ensure that they are child-friendly,” Uy said.

In January, the RCB has inspected spas and massage clinics, and for the month of February, it's the hotels, motels, and inns turn.

Uy said aside from maintaining log books, the RCB reminds the establishments to keep their rooms clean, and their closed-circuit televisions (CCTV) to be functional.

All of the four establishments were issued a notice of inspection findings and are given 10 days to comply.

Failure to comply will result to filing of cases, and a fine ranging from P500 to P5,000.
