OPPOSITION mayoral bet Jose Gabriel “Pompee” La Viña Wednesday, May 8, said President Rodrigo Duterte may likely visit the wake of former Cagayan de Oro City mayor Vicente “Dongkoy” Emano.

La Viña said there is already a communication sent to Malacañang for the possible visit of Duterte in the city before Emano’s remains will be laid to rest on Saturday.

But, there is no confirmation yet from the Office of the President as of this writing.

“Murag moanhi ang Presidente for the wake. Naa nay communication. Hopefully, makaanhi siya kay amigo man si President ug si Mayor Dongkoy,” La Viña said.

Reelectionist councilor Leon Gan said Duterte and Emano were close friends during their mayoral stint in Davao and Cagayan de Oro, years back.

Gan said the two have been active in peace efforts in Mindanao.

“Very close na sila nag-uban na sila kaniadto sa league of mayors in Mindanao. Taas nga panahon sila nag-uban. Pareha sila og hiyas ug pamaagi sa pagpadagan sa politika, disiplina ug pagdala sa gobyerno,” Gan said.

“Kanunay ni sila gapataliwala para makab-ot ang kalinaw ug gatinabanga gyud sila kaniadto,” he added.
