Manhunt underway for ‘gaffer’ killer

AUTHORITIES are still looking into the motives while tracing the gunmen who killed a gaffer in an ambush at Zayas, Carmen, Cagayan de Oro City over the weekend.

Police identified the victim as Franklin Vios, resident of Caffas, Macanhan, Carmen.

Initial investigation disclosed that the victim was driving a Starex van, traversing the Zayas road Sunday afternoon, September 23, when two unidentified assailants attacked and fired at the vehicle's driver side window four times.

Witnesses said the victim managed to continue driving for about 100 meters before it bumped another pick-up truck and side-swept a motorcycle then towards a tree.

Responding policemen saw the victim unconscious and sustained multiple gunshot wounds on his left arm, upper left abdomen and chest.

He was brought to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

Police recovered four fired empty cartridge case of caliber 45 pistol from the crime scene.

Investigators are looking into the angles of personal grudge and issues on gambling as possible motives of the incident.
