CAGAYAN de Oro City Mayor Oscar Moreno on Friday, March 27, ordered the temporary closure of all spas and massage parlors in Cagayan de Oro.

The Executive Order No. 54 also includes the masahe, hilot and reflexology activities to be prohibited in all plazas, parks, and other facilities in the city.

“Dapat i-undang na siya. Tanan magpuyo sa balay (It needs to be stopped. Everyone should stay at home),” Moreno said.

The order was issued after it was found out that the 71-year-old resident of Cagayan de Oro who tested positive of the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) went to get a massage from a masseur.

The masseur, Moreno said, was traced and is now under investigation for possible infection of the Covid-19.

However, Northern Mindanao Medical Center (NMMC) chief Dr. Jose Chan said the masseur is stable and only have minor complaints. He is also put under isolation.

Meanwhile, spas and massage parlors caught violating the EO will have their permits be canceled after the review of the Business Permits and Licensing Office.
