Medical status of Covid patient from Kauswagan 'guarded'

THE 49-year-old coronavirus-positive woman from Barangay Kauswagan, Cagayan de Oro City has her status changed from stable to guarded following an episode of hemoptysis or coughing up blood, Northern Mindanao Medical Center (NMMC) medical specialist Dr. Bernard Rocha said Tuesday, June 2.

Rocha said although the Covid patient has stable vital signs, her status was changed to guarded, adding that the oxygenation was increased and she is on a pulmonary phase regarding coronavirus infection.

Meanwhile, the 25-year-old coronavirus-positive female from Barangay Lumbia, Cagayan de Oro City who was among the locally stranded individuals who arrived in Cagayan de Oro from Cebu to take the architectural exam is in a stable condition.

Rocha said they are contemplating on transferring the said patient to the city isolation unit (CIU).

Emergency Operations Center head Dr. Lorraine Nery, for her part, said the 59-year-old female from Sitio Macanhan, Barangay Carmen, the recently tested positive for Covid-19, has complained of an on-and-off dry cough.

The woman, who is at present staying at the CIU, has been given medication for her dry cough, Nery said.

Nery added that they have traced six healthcare workers as close contacts of the 59-year-old woman. They will be subjected to quarantine and will be swabbed and tested, she added.

There are also 13 additional individuals in the total number of close contacts of the dead Covid patient from Sitio Macanhan. Of the 13, six of them are household members and relatives, while seven are her neighbors.
