THE week-long celebration of the 7th Kuyamis Festival, which concluded over the weekend, was a “huge success,” according to Misamis Oriental Provincial Tourism Department head lawyer Jeffrey Saclot.

This year’s festival, as observed, was livelier with the increased number of participating municipalities and cities in the different activities slated in the celebration.

Activities prepared for the festival also increased, with the addition of the first Dog Congress, Explore MisOr Mindanao Overland Expedition, and first Governor Bambi Emano Autocross and Car Show.

“This year, we started 2020 just last week with a blast. And I refer to the 7th Kuyamis Festival. And sa mga wala nakadungod, basin wala nakabalita, the whole week celebration was really a huge, huge success and it’s a feat sa probinsya sa Misamis Oriental,” Saclot said, during his speech on behalf of Governor Yevgeny Emano Monday morning, January 13.

“Imagine, seven years pa lang ang Kuyamis Festival pero grabe na kaayo ang dungog nga gihatag niya sa lalawigan sa Misamis Oriental thank you to the father of Kuyamis Festival, the creator of Kuyamis Festival, Governor Bambi Emano,” he added.

Saclot also recognized the support and help from the different department offices of the provincial capitol, the police, the working committee of the festival, the Association of Tourism Officers of Misamis Oriental and the municipalities and cities of the province.

He was also glad that several Misamisnons, especially the vendors, were given jobs, benefited and have earned their income through the festivities of the Kuyamis Fetival.

“The very fact that through the event, daghan kaayo ang maka-benefit, most especially the ordinary people, kanang mga namaligya, nangahalinan, nangahatagan og trabaho,” Saclot said.

“That should serve as an inspiration kanatong tanan to be more involved and for those who were not involved in the activity, in the preparaion down to the execution, I hope that will also serve as your i Anspiration para molambigit mo sa sunod nga Kuyamis Festival ug sa following nga mga activities sa lalawigan sa Misamis Oriental,” he added.

The 7th Kuyamis Festival began on January 6 with an opening program held at the Provincial Capitol grounds.

The festivities ended following the coronation night of the Queen of Misamis Oriental and the awarding ceremony of all the winners in the different events during the festival.
