PHIVIDEC Industrial Authority administrator Franklin Quijano said his family awaits the DNA result, which could confirm if the body found in a river in Iligan City was that of his wife Salma, who has been missing for over a month now.

In a Facebook post, Quijano, who is also Iligan's former mayor, detailed the events since his wife went missing on June 27.

He said on June 29, a floating female human body was found at the Mandulog River in Iligan City. But Quijano said they found no resemblance between his wife's body and the one found in the river.

“Our clueless and fruitless, but unrelenting search continued for almost a month. Even the sketchiest tip, we took, grabbed, followed and investigated. We always ended up facing a blank wall,” he said.

The family then decided to take a second look over the body found on June 29. A medico legal examination found out that the dental records of Salma “almost perfectly matched that of the dead body.”

Quijano said the family has requested a DNA test to conclude their search.

“We are shocked and shaken even as we await the result of the DNA exam,” he said.

The body is now at the Cosmopolitan Funeral Parlor in Iligan City, along with a relative of the Quijanos who also died earlier this week.
